Questions about Tethery.
If yours is not here, write to support@tethery.app.
Does it need the internet?
No. The phone and the computer only have to reach each other: the same Wi-Fi, a hotspot or a cable, with or without the internet behind it. You need the internet once, to activate a license, and when the phone watches through connect.tethery.app or from somewhere else.
Can I use it on my desktop and my laptop?
Yes. A license is for one person and has two seats: two computers, Mac or Windows in any mix. Free a seat from the panel on the computer you are leaving, or from your account page if you no longer have it, and use it on another.
What if my network keeps devices apart?
Office, hotel and campus networks often do. A cable, a hotspot or Tailscale gets around it, and Help walks you through each.
Can I try it first?
Yes, for as long as you like. The free version is a working Tethery: the same live picture, with a watermark, on one device at a time and up to 1080p. It includes the connect.tethery.app link, and two minutes of the full version every day, counted only while you play. A license removes the watermark and unlocks sound, several devices at once, resolutions above 1080p, saving frames to the phone and session notifications.
Is the color accurate?
The picture is. Tethery labels the stream Rec. 709, the standard for HD video, and phone browsers honor the label: in our tests the frames reached the phone within a couple of levels of what the timeline rendered, as close as 8-bit video gets, with no tint of Tethery’s own. What is left is the screen, which a phone adjusts by itself. Turn off True Tone, Night Shift and auto-brightness on an iPhone or iPad; on Android, turn off adaptive brightness and the blue-light filter and set the color mode to Natural.
Does my footage leave my computer?
No. The picture goes straight from your computer to your phone. Even through connect.tethery.app, only the page and the handshake that connects them pass through us, never a frame.
