Update Tethery

When a newer Tethery is out, the panel shows its number beside the name, in green: 0.1.2 available, for example. The changelog lists what changed in each version.

  1. Press the version in green

The Update page opens, with what’s new.

    What’s new
    • A change you’ll notice, in a sentence.
    • Another, in another.
    Update now

Downloads the installer, then asks Premiere Pro to close so it can install. Save your work first. Your license and settings carry over.

    The Update page.
  2. Press Update now

The panel downloads the installer for your computer, checks that it’s the one we published, and opens it.

  3. Let the installer close Premiere Pro

It asks Premiere Pro or After Effects to close, and each asks you to save first. Then your computer asks you to allow the install, or your Mac asks for its password, once.

  4. Open Premiere Pro again

The installer’s last screen says Tethery is updated. and lists your licenses: they carry over, with your settings. Open Premiere Pro or After Effects from there.

From version 0.1.0

Version 0.1.0 can’t install an update itself: its Update opens the changelog, which offers the installer. Download it, quit Premiere Pro and After Effects, and run it. It replaces the old version, and your license and settings stay. From 0.1.1 on, updates install from the panel.

You can always download the newest installer from tethery.app/download and run it over the version you have.

Uninstall Tethery

First, free your license

Leaving this computer for good? Deactivate it first so the place can go to another one: in the panel, the key icon, then Deactivate this computer. See Move a license. You can also do it later from your account.

On Windows

  1. Quit Premiere Pro and After Effects
  2. Uninstall it

Open Settings›Apps›Installed apps, find Tethery and choose Uninstall.

That removes the plug-in, the panel and Tethery Helper. Your license and settings stay in this folder so a reinstall picks them up; delete it to remove them too:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Tethery

On a Mac

  1. Quit Premiere Pro and After Effects
  2. Run the uninstaller

Open Terminal, paste this and press Return. It asks for your Mac’s password.

    sudo "/Library/Application Support/Tethery/uninstall.sh"

That removes the plug-in, the panel and Tethery Helper. Your license and settings stay, so a reinstall picks up where you left off. To remove those too, use this instead:

sudo "/Library/Application Support/Tethery/uninstall.sh" --purge

If the uninstaller is missing, on a Mac

This one command does the same:

sudo rm -rf "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/TetheryTransmit.bundle" "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.sonder.tethery.panel" "/Library/Application Support/Tethery" && sudo pkgutil --forget com.sonder.tethery

What leaves your computer

  • Your picture never does. It goes straight from your computer to your phone over your own network. Even through connect.tethery.app, only the page and the handshake that connects the two pass through us, never a frame.
  • Your license. The panel checks your license with us when it opens and once a day, sending the license and a fingerprint of this computer, so a license is used on two computers at most. It also asks which version of Tethery is newest.
  • Nothing about how you use Tethery. Nothing tracks what you edit or how.

The whole of it is in our Privacy Policy.
